Varicose veins are often misunderstood as simply a cosmetic issue but they are a sign of chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) and affects about 40% of people in the USA. Varicose veins are swollen, twisted veins that you see under the skin. The veins have a one-way valve that help blood flowing towards your heart. If the valves are damaged or weak blood can back up in your veins. This causes the veins to swell causing varicose veins.
There are many risk factors for varicose veins. Some of them are age, pregnancy, family history, obesity and standing for a long period of time, and even wearing high heels. The goal of treatment of varicose veins is to reduce or stop the back-flow of blood. How do you know if you have varicose veins?
Cosmetically you can see these clearly visible under the skin without any other symptoms. On the other hand, there can be pain, tingling, itching, heavy feeling and bruising. These if left untreated can affect your quality of life. In severe cases you may even develop ulcers. We offer many treatment options. These are all non-invasive outpatient procedures with minimal to no down time.
