We Focus on Seasonal and Environmental Allergies
An allergy test is an exam performed by a trained physician to determine if your body has an allergic reaction to a known substance. The exam can be in the form of a blood test, a skin test, or an elimination diet. We focus primarily on two types, seasonal environmental allergies which is a skin test and food allergies which is a blood test.
Generally speaking, skin tests are most reliable for diagnosing allergies to airborne substances, such as pollen, pet dander and dust mites. Skin testing may also help diagnose food allergies. But because food allergies can be complex, you may need additional tests.
Skin tests are generally safe but in certain circumstances, though, skin tests aren't recommended. When you schedule one, let us know if you:
- Have known allergies or have ever had a severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis)
- Take medications including antihistamines that could interfere with testing
- Have certain skin conditions like severe eczema or psoriasis
